The Florida RCC, based at the University of Miami, encompasses a statewide network in Florida, which has both populous metropolitan areas, and rural communities with diverse and unique population. It includes 13 acute care, pediatric and rehabilitation hospitals and 9 Satellite Sites that leverage academic-private-community partnerships. Our experience participating in clinical trials, multidisciplinary teams with stroke neurology, emergency medicine, neurosurgery, neuro-interventional, neurocritical care, neuro-rehabilitation and neuro-pediatric capabilities, and close integration with EMS, offer our patients a participation in diverse cutting-edge clinical studies. We are committed to training the next generation of stroke researchers through robust mentorship and a wide range of training programs and didactic opportunities. Unique resources that strengthen the StrokeNet include access, participation and contribution to the Florida Stroke Registry, preclinical stroke laboratories, programs in stem cells, human genetics, biorepositories, a brain bank, and a health disparities-focused CTSI. With these assets, the Florida RCC contributes to the rapid development of novel interventions for treatment, prevention and recovery of stroke patients.
