The University of Utah (UUH) Stroke Center leads stroke care and research in the Intermountain West. UUH provides collaborative adult and pediatric stroke care, including: pre-hospital engagement; remote acute evaluation via the 26-site Utah Telestroke Network; inpatient vascular neurology, neurosurgery, interventional care; and stroke-specific inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation. The Stroke Center has consistently achieved the highest American Heart Association quality awards offered. In recognition of the full-spectrum and high quality of care, UUHC was designated a Comprehensive Stroke Center by DNV in 2013. We have 20+ year history of participating in multi-center adult and pediatric clinical trials in stroke prevention, treatment, and recovery. In addition, UT StrokeNet translational vascular scientists are currently investigating: animal and translational models of vascular malformations; thrombosis and platelet aggregation; neurovascular coupling and peri-infarct depolarization; stroke genetics and population-based genetic epidemiology; and functional imaging used in development of models of stroke recovery prediction.
